Homer Philip Groening was a Canadian-American filmmaker, advertiser, writer, and cartoonist. In addition to his professional achievements in advertising and writing, Groening is widely notable for his connection to modern animation history. As the father of cartoonist Matt Groening, his name served as the direct inspiration for the iconic character Homer Simpson.
