Hilda Caroline Gregg, writing under the pseudonym Sydney C. Grier, was an English novelist and short story writer whose career spanned the late Victorian era through the early twentieth century. Born in June 1868, Gregg first introduced her fiction to the public in 1886, when her early work was printed in The Bristol Times. It was not until nearly a decade later, in 1895, that her first novel was published by the firm William Blackwood and Sons, establishing her presence in the literary market.\n\nFollowing this initial success, Gregg embarked on an exceptionally disciplined and prolific writing career, publishing a new novel every single year without interruption until 1925. Her extensive bibliography focused primarily on heroic adventure tales that depicted the experiences of English protagonists navigating distant locales. These narratives were frequently set in regions such as Afghanistan, Baghdad, and India. Through these popular adventure stories, Gregg contributed significantly to the era's popular fiction before her death in June 1933.
