Susannah Gunning, born Susannah Minifie around 1740, was a British writer and novelist active during the late eighteenth century. Over the course of her life, she contributed to the literary landscape of her era before her family became embroiled in public controversy.
In 1791, Gunning and her family found themselves at the center of a major society scandal. This widely discussed affair revolved around a suitor for her daughter, Elizabeth Gunning. Susannah Gunning passed away on August 28, 1800.
