Samuel Haight Hammond (1809–1878) was an American writer, lawyer, editor, and politician active in New York during the nineteenth century. Born in Bath, Steuben County, New York, Hammond developed a multi-faceted career that spanned law, journalism, and public service.\n\nThroughout his life, Hammond engaged with the civic and literary landscapes of New York State. In addition to his legal and political endeavors, he worked as a newspaper editor and author. He passed away in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York, in 1878.
