Sir Charles Hardy (c. 1714 – 1780) was a British naval officer, colonial administrator, and politician who served during the eighteenth century. He achieved the distinguished rank of Admiral of the White within the Royal Navy, reflecting a long career of military service.\n\nIn addition to his naval duties, Hardy held significant civil appointments. He served as the colonial governor of New York from 1755 to 1757, a critical period in the region's history. Following his governorship, he transitioned to domestic politics in Great Britain, where he sat as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons from 1764 until his death in 1780.
