Lizzie Allen Harker (1863–1933), born Lizzie Allen Watson, was an English novelist and playwright active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in Gloucester, she received her education at the Cheltenham Ladies College. In 1885, she married James Allen Harker, a professor at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. Following her husband's death in 1894, she continued to raise their family, which included their sons Oswald and Arthur. Harker is best remembered for her literary and dramatic contributions, most notably the play Marigold, which she co-wrote with Francis R. Pryor. The play achieved significant success, leading to a film adaptation in 1938. Additionally, Marigold was broadcast in May 1943 as one of the earliest episodes of the BBC Radio drama strand Saturday Night Theatre, cementing her legacy in British popular drama.
