Georg Ludwig Detlef Theodor Harms, widely known during his lifetime as Louis Harms, was a prominent nineteenth-century German Lutheran pastor. Born in 1808, Harms became one of the most significant Christian revivalists of his era, earning the distinctive nickname "Reviver of the Heath" (Erwecker der Heide) for his passionate religious work.
Harms's ministry was centered in Lower Saxony, where he famously transformed the small village of Hermannsburg on the Lüneburg Heath. Under his leadership, this quiet locality was revitalized into the region's most important center of Christian revival. He remained an influential figure in German religious history until his death in 1865.
