Henry Howard Molyneux Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon, was a prominent British politician and a leading member of the Conservative Party during the nineteenth century. Born in June 1831, he was known by the title of Lord Porchester from 1833 until 1849.

Throughout his political career, Herbert held major government portfolios. He served twice as the Secretary of State for the Colonies, overseeing British colonial affairs, and also held the position of Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He remained an active figure in British politics until his death in June 1890.
