Sven Anders Hedin (1865–1952) was a prominent Swedish geographer, explorer, and travel writer whose extensive expeditions significantly advanced Western knowledge of Central Asia. Over the course of four major expeditions spanning the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Hedin mapped vast, uncharted territories, documented archaeological ruins, and illustrated his own findings.
