Edward George Hemmerde (1871–1948) was an English barrister, politician, playwright, and athlete who maintained a diverse professional and civic life during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Recognized as a King's Counsel (KC), Hemmerde balanced his legal career with active participation in public service and political advocacy.
In addition to his legal and political endeavors, Hemmerde was known as a playwright and an active proponent of Georgism, an economic philosophy focused on land taxation. His varied interests also extended to athletics, where he distinguished himself as an English rower. Through these diverse pursuits, Hemmerde established a legacy spanning law, politics, literature, and sport.
