Mary Hitchcock is the namesake of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the flagship campus of the Dartmouth Health system and New Hampshire's only academic medical center. Located in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on a 225-acre campus in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, the institution serves as a major tertiary-care referral site for patients throughout northern New England. The center operates in close partnership with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, one of America's oldest medical schools, as well as the Thayer School of Engineering and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice.\n\nAs a vital regional healthcare hub, the medical center bearing her name is New Hampshire's only Level I Trauma Center and includes the state's only air ambulance service. It is also one of the twenty members of the New England Alliance for Health, a regional network of hospitals and healthcare organizations spanning New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Through these diverse clinical, educational, and research partnerships, the institution maintains a significant legacy in the region's medical history.
