Roger Mark Goldsworthy is an Australian politician who represented the electorate of Kavel in the South Australian House of Assembly from 2002 until 2018. Born on September 24, 1956, Goldsworthy has deep roots in South Australian politics; he is the son of the late Roger Goldsworthy, a prominent politician who served as the Deputy Premier of South Australia from 1979 to 1982 and was also the inaugural member for the seat of Kavel.\n\nBefore embarking on his own political career, Goldsworthy pursued studies in business and administration, earning a Diploma in Management from the ANZ Banking Group Ltd, alongside certificates in accounting and finance. Following his education, he worked as an electorate officer and political adviser, gaining valuable experience in governance. He also dedicated much of his time to local community engagement, serving on numerous school committees, sporting clubs, and community organizations.\n\nGoldsworthy was first elected to parliament representing the Liberal Party in 2002, succeeding in the same seat his father once held. During his tenure, he successfully defended his seat, notably increasing his margin to 9.4 percent in the 2006 election despite shifts in the local political landscape. After serving his constituency for sixteen years, Goldsworthy chose not to re-contest his seat in the 2018 state election, concluding his long-standing parliamentary career.
