Thomas Hood was an English humorist, playwright, and author who wrote during the mid-nineteenth century. Born on January 19, 1835, he was the son of the well-known poet and author Thomas Hood, inheriting a prominent literary legacy. Throughout his career, the younger Hood contributed to Victorian literature through various creative mediums, establishing himself as a versatile writer.\n\nHood's bibliography spans several genres, including plays, humorous writings, and illustrated volumes. He published his first illustrated book, titled Pen and Pencil Pictures, in 1857, marking an important milestone in his early career. He also found success as a novelist, with his most acclaimed and successful novel, Captain Master's Children, being published in 1865. Hood's career was cut short by his death on November 20, 1874, at the age of thirty-nine.
