William Noel Hodgson (1893–1916) was an English poet whose literary career was defined by the events of the First World War. Writing during a period of intense global conflict, Hodgson produced both poetry and prose that captured his experiences, publishing his work under the pseudonym Edward Melbourne.
Hodgson's life and writing career were cut short when he died on July 1, 1916, during the war. Recognized for his service with the Military Cross (MC), his legacy is preserved through the creative works he left behind under his pen name.
