J. H. Hubback
Sir John Austen Hubback was a British colonial administrator who served as the inaugural Governor of Odisha and as an adviser to the Secretary of State for India.

Sir John Austen Hubback, KCSI, was a British administrator in India who served as the inaugural Governor of Odisha. Born in 1878, his early life included education at Winchester College, followed by higher studies at King's College, Cambridge. After completing his education, he entered the Indian Civil Service in 1902, beginning a long career within the British colonial administration.\n\nHubback held key administrative positions in India during the mid-1930s. He served as a member of the Executive Council of Bihar and Orissa from 1935 to 1936. Following this role, he was appointed as the first Governor of Orissa, serving in this capacity from 1936 until his retirement in 1941.\n\nAfter his retirement from active service in India, Hubback returned to administrative advisory roles. From 1942 to 1947, he served as an adviser to the Secretary of State for India, assisting during the transitional years of the decade. He passed away in 1968.
