Sylvia Jackson was a Scottish politician and educator who served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament. Before her career in politics, Jackson worked within the field of education, where she was employed as a chemistry teacher and subsequently as a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh.\n\nIn 1999, Jackson transitioned into legislative politics, winning election to the Scottish Parliament as a representative for the Stirling constituency under the Scottish Labour Party banner. She served in this role for eight years until the election on May 3, 2007, when she lost the Stirling seat to Bruce Crawford of the Scottish National Party (SNP). Jackson passed away from cancer at a hospice in Winchester on July 27, 2022, at the age of 75.
