Malcolm Routh Jameson was an American science fiction writer active during the Golden Age of Science Fiction. Before embarking on his literary career, Jameson served as an officer in the United States Navy, where he made significant contributions to the development of modern naval ordnance. He turned to writing in the late 1930s when complications from throat cancer restricted his physical activities, channeling his extensive military background into his creative work.

Jameson's first published fiction appeared in Astounding Science Fiction in 1938. He quickly became known for his realistic, navy-oriented space adventures, which drew heavily on his personal naval experience to provide a sense of authenticity. Among his notable contributions to the genre is the short story "Doubled and Redoubled," which is recognized as potentially the earliest work of fiction to employ a time loop narrative device.

His most celebrated creation was the "Bullard of the Space Patrol" series, which followed adventures in Solar System exploration. Posthumously collected in 1951, the Bullard stories won the Boys Clubs of America Award and received high praise from contemporary critics, who lauded Bullard as one of the most successfully drawn series characters in modern science fiction. Jameson passed away in 1945, leaving behind a distinct legacy of military-influenced speculative fiction.
