Laurence Mark Janifer, born Laurence Mark Harris, was an American science fiction author whose career in the genre spanned over fifty years. Born in March 1933, Janifer actively contributed to the field of speculative fiction throughout the latter half of the twentieth century. Over his five-decade career, Janifer published works under his adopted name, having transitioned from his birth name of Harris. He passed away in July 2002, leaving behind a long legacy of contributions to American science fiction.
