Hargrave Jennings (1817–1890) was a British author, Freemason, and Rosicrucian who wrote on occultism, esotericism, and comparative religion. Active during the Victorian era, Jennings was a student of comparative religion who dedicated his work to exploring alternative spiritualities and secret societies.\n\nJennings was an active member of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia, a Rosicrucian organization based in England. He was also involved with a Pagan group that drew inspiration from the ancient novel The Golden Ass. Through his writings and organizational affiliations, Jennings participated in the nineteenth-century British subculture of esoteric study and occult philosophy.
