Owen Glynne Jones was a pioneering Welsh rock-climber and mountaineer active during the late nineteenth century. He is best known for establishing numerous new climbing routes, particularly in the Lake District of England, which helped lay the foundations for modern rock climbing in Britain.
Jones frequently climbed alongside the brothers George and Ashley Abraham. The Abraham brothers documented these ascents through photography, capturing historic images of Jones on the crags. This collaboration helped popularize the sport and preserved a visual record of early mountaineering achievements before Jones's death in 1899.
