Patrick Weston Joyce (1827-1914) was an Irish historian, writer, and music collector. Active throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Joyce focused his intellectual endeavors on the preservation and documentation of Irish cultural history. He is particularly recognized for his pioneering research into Irish etymology and the origins of local place names across Ireland. Through his work as a writer and collector, Joyce made lasting contributions to the study of Irish heritage.
