Daniel Parish Kidder was a nineteenth-century American theologian, writer, and minister associated with the Methodist Episcopal Church. Born in 1815, Kidder developed a career centered on religious scholarship, theological writing, and missionary service. A significant chapter of Kidder's life involved his travels to South America, where he spent several years living and working in Brazil. This period abroad deeply informed his perspective as a writer and religious figure, connecting his American Methodist background with his experiences in the region. He continued his theological and literary contributions until his death in 1891.
