William J. Rountree was an American entrepreneur who established the William J. Rountree Company in New York City in 1912. The firm operated as a steamship agent and brokerage.
Although not a literary figure, Rountree's namesake company played a notable role in maritime history. During World War II, the company actively supported the war effort by chartering and operating Liberty ships and Victory ships.
