Frederic Arnold Kummer Sr. was an American author, playwright, and screenwriter active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Throughout his career, Kummer produced a diverse body of work that spanned multiple mediums, including novels, theatrical plays, and screenplays for the film industry. In addition to publishing under his birth name, he also wrote under the pseudonym Arnold Fredericks.
Kummer's narratives proved well-suited for the screen, leading to several of his works being adapted into motion pictures. His presence in the creative and theatrical communities of his time is highlighted by his caricature being featured on the wall of the historic Sardi's restaurant, a well-known gathering place for Broadway and literary figures.
