Leon Kopelman (1924–2021) was a Holocaust survivor and resistance fighter who participated in the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising against Nazi forces. For a period of time, he was recognized as the last living survivor of the historic armed resistance.\n\nOriginally, Simcha Rotem—who passed away in 2018—was believed to be the final surviving fighter of the uprising. However, Kopelman subsequently came forward to share his history. Following Kopelman's death in 2021 at the age of 97, Michael Smuss was recognized as the last surviving fighter of the conflict.
