Sir Christopher Leaver is a British wine merchant, businessman, and civic politician who achieved prominence through his extensive service to the City of London. Born on November 3, 1937, to Dr. Robert Leaver, he was educated at Eastbourne College before embarking on his career in commerce and public administration.
Leaver's civic career in London spanned several decades, marked by key administrative appointments. He served as the Alderman for Dowgate City from 1974 until 2002 and was appointed Sheriff of the City of London in 1979. His public service culminated in his tenure as the 654th Lord Mayor of London from 1981 to 1982. Alongside these administrative roles, he also served as a Justice of the Peace.
In recognition of his contributions to British civic life, Leaver was knighted as a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire in 1981. The following year, in 1982, he was appointed as a Knight of Justice of St John.
