Edmund Leamy was an Irish journalist, barrister, author of fairy tales, and nationalist politician active during the late nineteenth century. Born in 1848, Leamy built a multifaceted career that spanned the legal profession, journalism, creative writing, and active political service.\n\nAs a politician, Leamy was a member of the Irish Parliamentary Party and served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. He was a leading supporter of the prominent nationalist leader Charles Stewart Parnell. Leamy represented various Irish constituencies for much of the period from 1880 until his death on December 10, 1904. Alongside his political and legal work, he was also known for his contributions to literature as an author of fairy tales.
