Mark Lemon (1809–1870) was an English editor and writer, best known as the founding editor of the influential satirical magazine Punch and the sports and country life publication The Field. Born in London, Lemon established a significant footprint in Victorian print culture through his editorial leadership of these prominent periodicals.\n\nIn addition to his pioneering work in journalism and magazine editing, Lemon was an active literary figure who wrote numerous plays and verses. He spent his later years in Crawley, where he passed away in 1870, leaving behind a legacy closely tied to the development of the nineteenth-century British press.
