Joseph Wharton Lippincott (1887–1976) was an American publisher, author, naturalist, and sportsman. Born into a prominent family, he inherited a rich legacy of business, education, and literature, which he carried forward through his diverse professional and personal pursuits.
He was the grandson of Joshua Ballinger Lippincott, who founded the renowned Philadelphia-based publishing firm J.B. Lippincott Company. He was also the grandson of the industrialist Joseph Wharton, the founder of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his life, Lippincott balanced his heritage in publishing with his active interests as an author and outdoor sportsman.
