Ingersoll Lockwood was an American lawyer, diplomat, and author who lived and worked during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in 1841, Lockwood maintained a diverse professional life that bridged the fields of law, international diplomacy, and creative writing. His literary career was marked by a wide-ranging versatility, as he authored works across multiple distinct genres, including children's literature, speculative fiction, drama, and non-fiction.
Among his most notable literary contributions are his children's novels, particularly the Baron Trump novels published in 1889 and 1893. Lockwood also ventured into political and speculative themes with his dystopian novel, 1900: or; The Last President. In addition to his novels and a play, Lockwood was a creator of non-fiction, occasionally publishing under the pen name Irwin Longman.
