Lily Rose Beatrice Allen, born in 1985 to actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen, is an English singer, songwriter, actress, and author. She first gained prominence in 2005 by sharing her vocal recordings on Myspace, which quickly translated into mainstream radio play and a record deal. Her 2006 debut single, "Smile," topped the UK Singles Chart, paving the way for her highly successful debut album, Alright, Still. The album earned critical acclaim, sold millions of copies worldwide, and garnered a Grammy Award nomination.
Allen continued her musical success with her second album, It's Not Me, It's You (2009), which debuted at number one in the UK and Australia and earned her a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. Alongside peers like Amy Winehouse, she was credited with ushering in a wave of fearless, experimental female-led pop music in the late 2000s. She followed this with the chart-topping Sheezus (2014), the critically acclaimed No Shame (2018), and West End Girl (2025).
Beyond her music career, Allen has expanded into television, writing, and acting. She hosted her own talk show, launched a record label, and published a candid memoir, My Thoughts Exactly, in 2018. In 2021, she made a highly praised West End theatre debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story, earning a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress.
