Corinne Anita Loos (1888–1981) was an American screenwriter, novelist, playwright, and actress. She made history in 1912 when she became the first female staff screenwriter in Hollywood, having been put on the payroll at Triangle Film Corporation by D. W. Griffith.\n\nLoos is widely remembered for her 1925 comic novel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Her other prominent writing achievements include her screenplay for the 1939 film adaptation of The Women, as well as her 1951 Broadway adaptation of Colette's novella Gigi.
