Emilie Baker Loring (1866–1951) was a popular American romance novelist of the twentieth century whose literary career began relatively late in life. She published her first work in 1914 at the age of fifty, embarking on a prolific writing journey that spanned nearly four decades. Her novels, which typically blended traditional romance with elements of mystery, adventure, and wholesome intrigue, gained a dedicated readership during the interwar and post-World War II eras.

Loring maintained a consistent writing schedule, producing numerous novels until her death in 1951 following a prolonged illness. Her passing did not mark the end of her publishing career, however. Her sons, Selden M. and Robert M. Loring, assumed management of her literary estate and discovered a wealth of unfinished manuscripts, outlines, and draft materials left behind in her study.

To preserve her legacy and satisfy ongoing reader demand, her sons oversaw the publication of twenty additional novels under Emilie Loring's name between 1951 and 1972. These posthumous releases were ghostwritten by author Elinore Denniston, who adapted Loring's unfinished notes into complete novels. Through this unique arrangement, Loring's distinctive voice and romantic storytelling continued to influence the genre for decades after her death.
