Richard Thomas Hanna was an American lawyer and politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives. Born in June 1914, Hanna pursued a career in the legal profession before transitioning into public office. He successfully ran for Congress as a representative from California, ultimately serving six consecutive terms in Washington, D.C., spanning from 1963 to 1974.

Hanna's long tenure in public office was ultimately overshadowed by his involvement in a major political controversy known as the Koreagate scandal. He was accused and subsequently found guilty of accepting bribes from a businessman who was working on behalf of the South Korean government. As a consequence of the scandal and his conviction, Hanna resigned his congressional seat and served one year in prison. He died in 2001.
