William Taylor Harris, born on August 28, 1984, in Houston, Texas, is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB). Harris developed his skills at the collegiate level, playing college baseball for Louisiana State University (LSU). His transition to professional baseball began in 2006 when the Colorado Rockies selected him in the ninth round of the MLB draft. After working his way through the minor leagues, he made his official major league debut in 2012.
Throughout his MLB career, Harris pitched for multiple franchises, including the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros, and Washington Nationals. He experienced his most successful and decorated years while playing for his hometown team, the Houston Astros. During his tenure in Houston, Harris established himself as a premier relief pitcher, earning an American League All-Star selection in 2016 and helping the franchise secure a World Series championship in 2017.
Harris's late-career achievements with the Astros further solidified his legacy on the mound. In 2019, he achieved the rare feat of pitching an immaculate inning and also participated in a combined no-hitter. Following his successful run with Houston, he went on to play for the Washington Nationals, concluding a distinguished career in professional baseball.
