Bernard Gay Marshall (1875–1945) was an American author who wrote historical fiction. Born in August 1875, Marshall is best remembered for his contributions to early twentieth-century literature for young readers.\n\nHis most notable literary achievement was the historical novel Cedric the Forester. Published to acclaim, the book was selected as a runner-up for the inaugural Newbery Medal in 1922, securing Marshall's place in the history of American children's literature. He passed away in December 1945.
