S. I. Martin is a British author, historian, journalist, and educator who has dedicated his career to researching and popularizing Black British history and literature. Born in 1961, Martin has worked across multiple genres, including historical fiction, non-fiction, and children's literature, to bring marginalized historical narratives to the forefront of public consciousness.

Among his notable literary contributions is the novel Incomparable World, which explores the lives of three Black exiles navigating the complex social landscape of eighteenth-century London. In addition to his adult fiction, Martin has authored historical non-fiction, including Britain's Slave Trade, published by Channel 4 Books to accompany a major television documentary series. He has also written children's fiction designed to expand younger readers' awareness and understanding of the transatlantic slave trade.

Beyond his writing, Martin is an active educator and public historian. He collaborates with numerous prominent cultural institutions, including the Museum of London, the National Maritime Museum, English Heritage, the Imperial War Museum, and the Public Record Office, as well as local schools and borough councils, to promote a deeper understanding of Black British heritage. He is also a patron of Humanists UK.
