Jean MacIntosh Turfa is an American archaeologist and academic renowned for her expertise in the Etruscan civilization. Born in 1947, she completed her early education at Abington High School in Philadelphia before earning her bachelor's degree at Gwynedd Mercy College. She subsequently pursued advanced studies at Bryn Mawr College, where she received her PhD in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology in 1974.

Throughout her distinguished academic career, Turfa has taught at numerous prestigious institutions across the United States and the United Kingdom. Her teaching appointments include the University of Liverpool, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Chicago, Loyola University Chicago, Drexel University, Dickinson College, Bryn Mawr College, St. Joseph's University, and the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to her teaching, Turfa has been actively involved in field archaeology and museum research. She has participated in excavation campaigns in the United States, the United Kingdom, Greece at Corinth, and Italy at Poggio Civitate. Her museum-based research has connected her with major institutions such as the Manchester Museum, the Liverpool Museum, the British Museum, and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. She is also a member of the US section of the Istituto Nazionale di Studi Etruschi ed Italici.
