Charles Alexander McMurry (1857–1929) was an American educator and a leading pioneer in the movement known as American Herbartianism. Active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, McMurry focused his career on educational theory, teaching methodologies, and curriculum reform.

Working alongside his brother, Frank Morton McMurry, he helped introduce and adapt the educational philosophies of Johann Friedrich Herbart to the American school system. Through these efforts, McMurry left a lasting impact on the development of modern pedagogical practices.
