Frederic William Henry Myers (1843–1901) was a British poet, classicist, and philologist who co-founded the Society for Psychical Research. Active during the Victorian era, Myers sought to apply systematic investigation to psychical phenomena, bridging his classical background with early psychological inquiry.
Myers is best remembered for his theories on human consciousness, particularly his concept of the "subliminal self." Although his ideas and psychical research were highly influential among his contemporaries, they were ultimately not accepted by the mainstream scientific community.
