John Anderton Naylor was an English timber merchant from Warrington, active during the late nineteenth century. He is historically recognized for commissioning the construction of Beeston Towers, a prominent country house situated near the village of Beeston in Cheshire, England. Built in 1886, the house serves as a testament to the architectural investments of successful merchants during the Victorian era.
The building commissioned by Naylor is characterized by its distinctive timber-framed construction and rendered brick additions, standing three storeys high with an accompanying four-storey tower. Located along the A49 road, the striking design of the property has historically been compared to Little Moreton Hall. Following Naylor's association with the property, Beeston Towers underwent significant changes, including early twentieth-century expansions and conversions into a school, a restaurant, and eventually the Wild Boar Hotel. It remains recognized as a Grade II listed building, preserving the legacy of Naylor's original nineteenth-century commission.
