Emily Cheney Neville (December 28, 1919 – December 14, 1997) was an American author who achieved prominent recognition in the field of children's literature during the mid-twentieth century. Born in late 1919, Neville established her literary reputation with the publication of her very first book, It's Like This, Cat, in 1963. The novel quickly garnered widespread attention, leading to a major milestone in her career when she was awarded the prestigious Newbery Medal in 1964.
