Anna Nicole Smith, born Vickie Lynn Hogan, was an American model, actress, and television personality who became one of the most prominent media figures of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. She first gained widespread recognition in May 1992 when she appeared as a centerfold for Playboy magazine, subsequently earning the title of 1993 Playmate of the Year. Her modeling career quickly expanded as she secured high-profile campaigns for major fashion brands, including Guess, H&M, and Heatherette.

Beyond her modeling career, Smith was a frequent subject of intense media scrutiny, particularly following her 1994 marriage to the eighty-nine-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall. Following Marshall's death in 1995, she became embroiled in a highly publicized, multi-year legal battle over a share of his estate. This complex legal dispute eventually reached the Supreme Court of the United States, keeping her name in the public eye for years.

In her later career, Smith transitioned into television and film. She starred in her own reality television program, The Anna Nicole Show, which aired on E! from 2002 to 2004, and worked as a spokeswoman for the dietary supplement brand TrimSpa. Her life was cut short when she died of a combined drug intoxication in Hollywood, Florida, in February 2007 at the age of thirty-nine.
