Mary F. Nixon-Roulet (died 1930) was an American author who specialized in children's literature and religious writings during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born into a religious family of writers and scholars, she was the daughter of Flora Jewell Nixon, a prominent member of St. Louis society. Her grandfather served as a Protestant missionary to the Seminole people, which inspired Nixon-Roulet's lifelong interest in and financial support for Native American children. She later converted to Catholicism and married physician Alfred de Roulet, with whom she lived and raised a family in Chicago, Illinois.\n\nNixon-Roulet's literary career was marked by her prolific output for both Christian and young audiences. She authored numerous biographies of Catholic saints, which were widely promoted in Catholic and Presbyterian publications as well as the popular press. Her dedication to religious writing earned her a formal benediction from Pope Leo XIII in 1903.\n\nIn addition to her devotional works, Nixon-Roulet was a key contributor to the popular Our Little Cousin series published by L.C. Page & Co. This series aimed to introduce young readers to global cultures through narrative descriptions of children from various countries. Her contributions included volumes such as Our Little Spanish Cousin, Jean, Our Little Australian Cousin, and Kalitan, Our Little Alaskan Cousin. She also published a collection of Japanese fairy tales and contributed short stories to major newspapers, including the New-York Tribune.
