Grace May North, who also wrote under her married name Grace May North Monfort, was an American newspaper journalist and author. Born on February 1, 1876, North developed a career that spanned both journalism and creative writing, focusing significantly on literature intended for younger audiences. Her work in newspapers provided a foundation for her professional writing career, which eventually transitioned into the creation of longer-form fiction for children and adolescents.
As an author of youth fiction, North was notable for writing stories that featured both girl and boy protagonists, ensuring her books appealed to a wide range of young readers.
