Andre Alice Norton, born Alice Mary Norton, was an American writer who wrote extensively in the genres of science fiction and fantasy, as well as historical and contemporary fiction. She published her work primarily under the pen name Andre Norton, but also wrote under the pseudonyms Andrew North and Allen Weston.\n\nNorton was a historic figure in speculative fiction, becoming the first woman to be named a Gandalf Grand Master of Fantasy. She was also the first woman to be honored as an SFWA Grand Master and the first female writer inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame.
