Thomas O'Hagan, 1st Baron O'Hagan, was a prominent nineteenth-century Irish lawyer and judge who achieved high distinction in the legal and political spheres of Ireland. Born in May 1812, O'Hagan dedicated his professional life to the law, eventually rising to some of the most prestigious judicial positions in the country. He is best remembered for his service as the Lord Chancellor of Ireland, a position he held during two distinct terms. His first tenure as Lord Chancellor spanned from 1868 to 1874, and he was later reappointed to the office, serving from 1880 to 1881. Throughout his career, he was recognized with various honors, including appointments as a Queen's Counsel (QC), a member of the Privy Council of Ireland (PC), and a Knight of the Order of St. Patrick (KP). He passed away in February 1885.
