Watson Parker (1924–2013) was an American historian, author, and academic who specialized in the history of the American West. Over the course of his career, Parker became a leading authority on the Black Hills region, an area encompassing parts of South Dakota and eastern Wyoming. His scholarly efforts were focused on capturing the rich historical narrative of this specific geographic area, contributing significantly to the regional historiography of the United States.

In addition to his research and writing, Parker served as a professor of history at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. In this academic role, he educated students while continuing to publish and lecture on his areas of expertise. His dedication to preserving and sharing the history of the Black Hills did not go unnoticed; in 2011, he was formally inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame, a testament to the lasting impact of his historical scholarship and his contributions to the state's cultural heritage.
