Alexander Moore Phillips was an American novelist and short story writer active during the mid-twentieth century. Born in 1907, Phillips balanced his creative writing with a professional career as a topographical draftsman for a title insurance company. His life also included military service; he enlisted in the United States Army in April 1942, during World War II, and was stationed in Egypt and Palestine. Phillips is best remembered for his contributions to speculative fiction, with his short stories appearing in popular pulp magazines of the era such as Amazing Stories, Wonder Stories, and Unknown. In 1947, his novel The Mislaid Charm was published by Prime Press. In addition to his writing, Phillips was an active participant in the science fiction community, serving as the president of the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society.
