William, Mrs. Platt

William Francis Splatt was an English public figure and politician born in Devon, England, in 1811. In 1841, he emigrated to Australia, where he established himself and eventually entered public service. During his time in the colony, Splatt achieved political prominence, serving as a member of the first Legislative Council of Victoria.
After accumulating significant wealth during his years in Australia, Splatt returned to his native England in 1854. Decades later, he continued his involvement in civic leadership, becoming the first mayor of Torquay, Devon, in 1892. He passed away the following year in 1893.
